Right. So, Bitcoin. Still a thing, apparently. 🙄 And according to some Very Serious People (analysts, they’re called. I mostly analyze biscuit choices), it’s… not exactly surging forward with enthusiasm. Apparently, something called “Realized Cap Growth” is declining. Which sounds deeply worrying, and also vaguely like a complicated skincare regime.
Seriously, What Does That Even Mean?
Apparently, “Realized Cap” is how much actual money people used to buy Bitcoin. Not just what it’s theoretically worth now, which, let’s be honest, can change more rapidly than my dating life. The usual “market cap” just multiplies the price by how many Bitcoins there are. So, it’s like the difference between what you paid for that questionable jacket last year vs. how much it’s worth now (which is probably zero).
This “Realized Cap Growth” – stay with me – measures whether more money is flowing into Bitcoin, or leaking out like sand through my fingers after a particularly bad online shopping spree. And right now it’s… leaking. 💧
There’s a chart. Honestly, charts just induce anxiety. Here it is, if you must. It’s going down. Down, down, DOWN. Like my spirits every Monday.
Apparently, some analyst called Maartunn (sounds… serious) says this means Bitcoin lacks “momentum from new cost basis inflows.” Which basically means fewer people are throwing their life savings at it. Shocking. 🤯
The 7-day thingy crossed under the 59-day thingy (technical terms, obviously). This is apparently a “bear phase”. A bear. Like a large, grumpy animal. Which, frankly, is how I feel about crypto right now.
And, because things weren’t depressing enough, the people who bought Bitcoin relatively recently (within the last 155 days – really, that short?) are still losing money. A full 10%! Honestly, just stick to shoes. Shoes are a much safer investment.👠
The Price (Because You Were Wondering)
As of, like, right now, Bitcoin is wobbling around $92,400, which is down 1.5% today. So basically, a rollercoaster that only goes downwards. 🎢
Just saying. I’m off to buy a sensible cardigan.
