Pi Network Upgrade Deadline Looms as XRP Drops & Altcoins Face Crisis!

Critical Pi Network (PI) Update, <a href="https://minority-mindset.com/xrp-usd/">Ripple</a> (<a href="https://jpyeur.com/xrp-usd/">XRP</a>) Price Crash, and Altcoins in Danger: Bits Recap May 28

The last 24 hours have been quite busy, particularly for altcoins. Many smaller cryptocurrencies experienced significant price drops as the overall market weakened and tensions rose in Iran.

As I’ve been following, the recent conflict between the US and Iran – specifically, the US downing Iranian drones and Iran’s subsequent strike on a US base in Kuwait – has clearly broken the ceasefire. This has created significant instability, and I’m observing considerable turbulence in both traditional and cryptocurrency markets as a result.

Here’s a quick update on recent developments with Pi Network, Ripple’s XRP, and some other altcoins.

Critical Pi Network Update: Here’s What You Need to Know

Pi Network’s core blockchain technology is being updated, as announced in a post yesterday. All nodes on the main network need to upgrade to version 24 to keep running.

The Pi Mainnet is upgrading to Protocol 24 – Deadline: June 2.

The Pi network has been updated to the latest version, Protocol 23. To stay connected, all users running a Mainnet node need to complete the update before the deadline.

Please complete this by June 2nd, 2026. The developers suggest upgrading your nodes gradually, and routing traffic to other nodes while the upgrade is happening.

Per the provided documentation, the upgrade itself should be very quick.

“Internal data migrations are quick. Expected downtime is less than 15 minutes.”

However, it’s important to remember that nodes which don’t upgrade could be cut off from the main network, potentially causing problems for everyone.

Ripple’s XRP Tumbles 3.5%

The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a downturn today, and XRP is also falling in value. It dropped 3.5% to below $1.27, but has since bounced back a little.

This price increase isn’t driven by any specific news or developments within the asset itself; it’s simply following overall market trends. Interestingly, trading activity significantly rose during the recent price drop. Currently, it’s up over 42% in the last 24 hours, reaching $2.44 billion.

However, the underlying strengths of the XRP Ledger appear to be growing. New plans are in development to improve how liquidity pools are created, offering more adaptability for those who set them up and developers, and allowing them to respond better to changing market trends.

Altcoins Stress Test: US Gov’t About to Dump?

As a final observation in my recent analysis, Arkham Intelligence identified a transaction on the blockchain that appears to be linked to assets held by the U.S. Government. It’s a noteworthy movement of funds that I wanted to highlight.

The US government recently transferred $1.9 million worth of funds originally belonging to Alameda Research. This follows a previous seizure of $13 million in Alameda assets from Binance three years ago. The transferred funds included RNDR, UNI, SAND, MASK, and AXS cryptocurrencies, and were moved to Coinbase Prime. This action raises the question of whether the government intends to sell these seized assets.

The US Government just moved $1.9 Million of Alameda funds.

Three years ago, the US government seized $13 million worth of assets belonging to Alameda Research from the cryptocurrency exchange Binance. Recently, they transferred $1.89 million of those assets – specifically RNDR, UNI, SAND, MASK, and AXS tokens – to Coinbase Prime.

Are they about to sell the seized funds?

The amount being sold isn’t particularly large, and these smaller cryptocurrencies generally have enough trading activity to handle it without major price drops. However, investors might interpret any selling as a negative signal, potentially causing further declines. Only time will reveal the true impact.
