Well, well, well! It seems that a certain Shaira Ahmed has taken the phrase “making a withdrawal” a tad too literally while employed at JPMorgan Chase, that mighty titan of finance. This enterprising soul, while donning her banker’s cap at the Richmond Hill branch, apparently thought it prudent to pilfer a neat sum of $73,200 from the good folks who trusted her with their hard-earned pennies.
According to the U.S. Treasury’s illustrious Office of the Comptroller of the Currency-sounds prestigious, doesn’t it?-Ms. Ahmed engaged in a delightful little game of hide-and-seek, embezzling funds over the span of two months, from January 15th to March 22nd of 2025. Quite the busy bee, I must say!
“By reason of the foregoing conduct, Respondent [Ahmed] engaged in violations of law, which resulted in financial gain to Respondent and loss or risk of loss to the Bank. Respondent’s misconduct demonstrated personal dishonesty.” Ah, the legalese! It rolls off the tongue like molasses on a summer day. But what they really mean is: “She took the money and ran, folks!”
Now, not only did our dear Ahmed have a knack for accounting, but she also fancied herself quite the record keeper, altering the bank’s documents to cover her tracks. Talk about multitasking! She held the title of associate banker from July 8th, 2024 until May 2nd, 2025-clearly, she was working toward a promotion, albeit one in the opposite direction.
In light of her little escapade, the OCC has slapped her with a ban, declaring that she can no longer frolic in the world of U.S. banking; her days of charming customers out of their cash are officially over. And just to spice things up, she consented to this prohibition without so much as a peep of confession or denial. A real class act!
